Journal of Chemical Education publishes article on Georgia State University’s flipped Organic Chemistry course.

In 2015, Complete College Georgia supported work by Dr. Suzette Mooring and Dr. Joan Mutanyatta-Comar to use peer-led team learning to “flip” a large-enrollment organic chemistry course at Georgia State University.  The support from CCG’s Innovation and Incubator Grants program allowed for the hiring of peer assistants to complement the use of video lectures that were a part of a flipped classroom for the 400-student course.

Results from the project point to improved performance for students in the flipped classroom.  Furthermore, the project demonstrated “increase access to course materials, which increased time for in-class group learning and discussion.”  An article on the project was featured in September by the Journal of Chemical Education.
