Academic Alerts (University of North Georgia-2023)

Academic alert allows instructors teaching all course modalities to submit a referral if a student is not academically performing at the level they should be in a course. The program is designed to proactively intervene with students struggling academically earlier in the semester. The program functions within a trifecta of support programs at UNG to help students, including, Flight Support and Behavioral Intervention.

Academic Coaching (University of Georgia-2023)

UGA students are very well-prepared. The Class of 2026 posted an average high school GPA of 4.12, an average ACT score of 32, and an average SAT score of 1384. Often such high-achieving students have never experienced any kind of failure. But the demanding pace of a research institution like UGA often poses significant and unexpected challenges for our students. Our Academic Coaching program provides direct, differentiated assistance for students as they navigate college, overcome whatever challenges they encounter, achieve academic success, and ultimately graduate.

QEP: It’s About Engagement (Kennesaw State University-2023)

Success is more about what you do while you are in college and less about what college you attend. A recent study showed that the most successful students are those who participate in undergraduate experiences, such as internships, undergraduate research, and service learning. These engaged learning opportunities allow students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to the real world. Through internships, undergraduate research, and service-learning, students also gain unparalleled opportunities to hone their critical thinking and communication skills.

New Student Initiatives (Kennesaw State University-2023)

To combat lower graduation rates, KSU will focus on four initiatives aimed at supporting new students:

  1. The President’s Focused Learner Program

The President’s Focused Learner Program (PFL) is a KSU initiative seeking to assist incoming students at risk of “Murky Middle” GPAs with their ability to navigate the academic and personal well-being factors often necessary for a student’s academic success. The PFL Program spans all majors at KSU.

Faculty Mentor Program (Gordon State College-2023)

The Faculty Mentor Program at Gordon State College pairs first-year students (students under 30 credit hours) with faculty in the student’s major area/area of focus. Faculty mentors act as part of the student’s success team. They provide professional and career guidance, encouragement, and help connect students with campus resources. All tenure-track faculty members serve as faculty members. Faculty mentors act to provide services and support that complement the services offered by GSC’s professional academic advisors.
