Pathway+ (University of North Georgia-2026)

Strategy/Project Name:
Pathway+
Momentum Area:
Pathways
Strategy/Project Description:

Pathway+ focuses on Learning Support students instead of all Associate students, placing them in learning communities, a new required FYE course (UNG 1101), and revising pedagogy for LS courses. Modifications to this intervention are based on positive impact on LS students in the pilot, logistic challenges in taking it to scale for all Associate, the increased number of students required to take math LS, and NISS recommendations that we align support services to support students in high DWF courses

Summary of Activities:

Activity Status:
Evaluation/Assessment plan:

Successful completion of Learning Support requirements in English, Math, and UNG 1101 (FYE course) in the first year.

Results will be analyzed at the end of each fall and spring term. As fall 2025 is the first term the course was offered, data is not currently available

Progress and Adjustments:

Faculty teaching ENGL 0999 increased the credit hours for this course to 2 hours, and all students with a co-requisite requirement were enrolled in UNG 1101 Flight Training: Thriving at UNG, a 1 credit hour FYE course in fall 2025. The FYE course was designed to promote students’ strengths, mindset, and planning for a successful college experience.

Math faculty updated the placement scores for Math corequisite courses and are piloted a new placement exam through ALEKS, an adaptive learning technology.
ALEKS Data:
# students took PPL ONCE:        186
# students PPL Twice:                  67
# students PPL Three times:       27
# students PPL Four Times:        8
# students PPL Five Times:         3

Through ALEKS, 17 students placed into College Algebra (with support) and 50 students tested completely out of corequisite MATH requirements.

Plan for the Year Ahead:

Assess results for corequisite student success in ENGL, MATH, and UNG 1101 courses at the end of fall 2025.

Challenges and Support:

Authorization by USG to continue using ALEKS as a placement tool for Mathematics.
