The Continuing Student Communication Strategy priority is designed to establish a streamlined, cohesive approach to communicating with our continuing student population. We have already made progress with two key units—Registration and Financial Aid—by partnering with a third-party vendor to create personalized communication journeys for these processes.
Support students financially through the enhanced use of data, coordinated student communications and outreach across units, and initiatives to address financial stop-outs and students losing HOPE.
Educate incoming and continuing students on financial literacy. This includes campus activities regarding understanding the FAFSA, financial aid processing, reviewing student accounts, balancing a budget, and making healthy fiscal decisions. These activities are in collaboration with the Center for Student Success and Retention and Housing & Residence Life
The Gold Carpet Orientation activity is a modified orientation concept delivered during the weekday. Through Gold Carpet Orientation, new Freshmen experience orientation in small groups of 20 going through 5-6 stations directly related to onboarding and first year retention, to include:
Revision and updating of the (out-of-class) videos and materials that support students completing an Academic Improvement Plan. The purpose of the revision is to better connect and engage students who are at academic risk.
Goal: Increase retention in the second to third year through targeted campus engagement.
