GCSU aspires to graduate students with creative and problem-solving dispositions that prepare them to be the next leaders of the free world. Georgia College connects teaching excellence with learning beyond the classroom to provide unique undergraduate research experiences for students. Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) defines undergraduate research as, "an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original, intellectual, or creative contribution to the discipline(s)."

MURACE adopts and adheres to the CUR by being committed to inclusivity in all our activities, therefore MURACE will increase and nurture participation of individuals  in undergraduate research.

Progress and Adjustments: 

GCSU added Research Day, which was a major initiative combining undergraduate and graduate research. Over 500 undergraduate and graduate students and GCSU faculty participated.

A full-time Coordinator of Undergraduate Research has been hired and will start January 2025.

Plan for the Year Ahead: 

Planning has already begun on Research Day 2025.  Discussions have started on how to increase research presentations and strengthen the activities throughout the day.  These will include partnering with Graduate Studies and other High Impact Practices.
